The cable outer sheath fault tester is designed based on the MURRAY bridge principle, and can be used to locate the breakdown points of various wires and cables after laying, as well as the defect points without breakdown but with low insulation resistance. Of course, it can also be used to locate the defect points of various cables in the cable factory.
The equipment uses a switching power supply to constitute a high-voltage constant current source, with a no-load voltage of 7500V, and a short-circuit current of 40mA. A high sensitivity amplifier and galvanometer are used to indicate balance. A balanced bridge is formed with a proportional potentiometer, and the entire device is placed at a high potential. The measuring cable is a specially designed dual core high-voltage rubber cable. The four-terminal resistance measurement method is used to avoid the error introduced by the lead resistance. The cable is reliably grounded through a woven shield layer, The operating button on the panel is at a low potential, and the bridge is operated through an insulating rod. The high-voltage constant current source and bridge are integrated in a portable aluminum alloy box. Therefore, the device has high voltage, light weight, convenient operation, and safe use.
Compared to the wave reflection method, the bridge balance method has no blind spots, and is particularly suitable for judging the breakdown points of short cables and near the ends, making it easy to operate.
